Day of Service
Freshmen and Sophomore Day of Service, March 21st
Freshmen – The freshmen under the supervision of Mr. Dauss, Ms. Murphy, and Mr. Scriber had the opportunity to see firsthand the sorting operation at Second Harvest Food Bank. The students sorted and repackaged incoming food donations so that they could be distributed to local food pantries and other parties in need.
Sophomores – The sophomores under the supervision of Ms. Loughmiller, Coach Marroccoli, and Mr. Taylor had the opportunity to learn more about Armstrong Park from a tuba playing park ranger. The anticipated need for trash pick-up after a weekend festival was limited but the park ranger did an excellent job of highlighting the “willingness” to serve and being adaptable to changing situations. Students had the unexpected chance to learn more about the history of jazz in New Orleans and thoroughly enjoyed playing the drums and other musical instruments in a session led by members of the Congo Square Preservation Society.
